Hey everyone,

Firstly, I want to thank you all for checking out my website and my blog. I’m going to take some time to introduce myself later on in this first entry. Before that, I want to tell you guys what you can look forward to on future blogs.

I’m going to use these posts as a way of reaching out to you all. I’m extremely social and love being in contact with anyone who is interested in anything I’m doing. If you ever have questions for me, reach out. I will focus mostly on health and fitness of course, . Most of my posts will be about healthy eating and answering your questions that I get through email or my social networking accounts. I will be posting tons of new recipes that I come up with as well. I love experimenting with food, so if you love to cook and need some new inspiration, check back often. Also, I will be posting on new goodies I find. That all being said, I will also write blogs about other things that interest me. Let me know what you guys enjoy, and what you would like to see more of. Now lets get into a little bit about me….

I’m a 26-year-old Vancouver gal that is forever fighting a battle between loving to eat lots of food and wanting to be lean and in shape. It all started when I realised that I’ve become quite a foodie. I love food, everything about it. I’m a very social person and in our society we socialize around food. I love dining out, trying new things, and cooking. However, in about 2012 I realised that my love for food and constantly eating out was resulting in weight gain and an all around unhealthy lifestyle. As my appetite for discovering new amazing restaurants or playing with new recipes was growing, my pants sizes and my body was growing too. I have a tiny frame, but was well overweight for my height. When I started feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, I simply had to do something about it.

I met with a trainer, Leigh Brandt, who is the Canada’s first IFBB Bikini Pro and absolutely stunning! The first thing I said to her was, “I will never eat plain boiled chicken and broccoli”…. When she agreed that making healthy eating flavourful is the key to sticking to a diet, I knew she was the one. Before hiring Leigh, I had tried to lose weight by training on my own and eating healthier, with absolutely no luck. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to hire a trainer that knows what they’re talking about. Within the first month, I started seeing real results by making changes to my diet and exercising with Leigh and on my own. Seeing results for the first time really got me excited and motivated me to continue working hard to get closer to my goal.

During this lifestyle change, I was a student at SFU studying towards my BA and BBA. The prep that goes into eating healthy is extremely time consuming, from grocery shopping, to prepping, cutting, cooking, and cleaning… I couldn’t imagine how people who are working full time or taking care of a family could allocate that much time to dieting properly. It was clear that there was a need for this service in Vancouver, so I started my journey. And that’s how MealsAWeight started, and trust me; there are no signs of slowing down.
